Helen Bailey

Membership and Administrative Coordinator

Helen grew up in Wheaton as a member of the DuPage UU Church. She graduated from Grinnell College with a major in Anthropology. During her college career, Helen traveled to eastern Africa where she completed research about gender roles within the Maasai community and elsewhere in Tanzania. Once back in Grinnell, Helen had an internship at a sexual assault and domestic violence shelter. During her time at the shelter, Helen worked closely with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Since college, she has been highly involved in nonprofit work. As an Outreach and Resource Coordinator at Porchlight Counseling services in Evanston, she worked with volunteers, organized fundraisers, and gave presentations to college students about issues of sexual assault. Most recently, she worked at The Center for Enriched Living in Riverwoods. Helen currently lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago with her partner and two cats. She is looking forward to bringing her enthusiasm and energy to NSUC!
