The goal of our annual Rummage Sale is to provide gently used and new items at reasonable prices for people who can use them and to keep functional items out of our landfills. Eighty percent of the net proceeds of this sale go to agencies that target homelessness and poverty in Lake and Cook Counties. The remaining 20% is allocated to other nominated social and environmental agencies.
We need donations of clean, sorted, gently used or new items for the sale, volunteers with vans/trucks to transport large furniture contributions, and volunteers to assist during set-up week assembling the sale infrastructure, sorting, and displaying sale items. On the day of the sale we require cashiers, baggers, and sales personnel in addition to clean up volunteers after the sale ends.
