Join Us in Creating a Mother-Daughter Group

Are you interested in exploring how we can nurture our daughters through childhood, adolescence and into adulthood?  How about a mother-daughter group?  The intention is to support one another as mothers, nurture our relationships with our daughters, and help them thrive as girls and young women.  As our primary guide, we will use the book The Mother-Daughter Project: How Mothers and Daughters can Band Together, Beat the Odds and Thrive Through Adolescence by SuEllen Hamkins, M.D. and Renee Schultz, M.A. (http://www.themother-daughterproject.com/index.htm).  We will also draw on other resources that we each bring to make this project uniquely our own.

There are currently two groups going that have been meeting for several years and it may be time to start some new groups.  At this time, we will gauge interest in the idea and see what ages respond.  Generally, you want the girls to be about the same age and we will need 8-10 mother-daughter pairs to get started.  Usually, the ideal age to begin is kindergarten through 4th grade.   To start, we would meet as mothers alone then we will add gatherings for mothers and daughters together.

The time, date & place of our first meeting is up to you!  Please call (847-212-5363) or e-mail Andrea Mills ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to sign-up or just ask questions.  This is a very exciting project that could make the difference in you and your daughter’s ability to evolve your relationship as your daughter faces the inevitable changes that becoming a woman involves.
