Offered at 9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Spirit Play is a Montessori-based program designed specifically for Unitarian Universalists. The program encourages students to explore creatively, think independently, and develop a sense of ritual and sacred space. Spirit Play is less a class and more a way of learning and experiencing spirituality. Not only is the lesson meaningful, but also every aspect of the class is imbued with sacred significance.
Spirit Play I, our program for 4 year olds through Kindergarteners, is the first of three Spirit Play programs. This year, it will focus on our seven Unitarian Universalist Principles and our liturgical year.
Spirit Play I is also unique as it is one of two classes that does not begin in the Worship Service with the rest of the congregation. Unless it is a special service, parents drop off their children in the classroom at 9:15 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.
Because Spirit Play is such a unique program, we offer a brief Family’s Guide to Spirit Play (pdf) to help families understand how the program works and the reasoning behind it.
